February Fun

We are off to a great start for 2012 and keeping busy! Gage is the main attraction and one word describes him best, "Go!" He is a non-stop mover and loves to be playing, investigating, and helping. He is always on the move and amazes us with how quickly he learns. We have to be careful because once he watches us do something once, he picks it up and is ready to duplicate the act/behavior with incredible turn around time!! :)

No, Gage is not duplicating Rob and I dumping bowls on our head :) This is just Gage being Gage :)

Gage loves to watch photos stream on the computer or the digital photo album 

 This is Gage playing his version of "Rrrraaarr!" He says "rrarrrr" to someone then runs away laughing

 And then of course practice time for himself :)

 Gage has a few shows that he likes to watch: Chugginton, Bob the Builder, and Bubble Guppies

 But he will only watch t.v. for about 3-5 min........every once and awhile we can get about 10-15 min of quiet time from him but that is on rare occasion

 This little table is now in the basement as he has outgrown it and prefers to tip it over rather then play with it

When we saw this we decided it was finally time to get him a pillow!! (Working for the Milwaukee Child Welfare System and seeing all the SID statistics made me one paranoid mom--that is why he made it this long without one, but I feel he is big enough to have one and he finally has one that he loves :) ) * He now also has a blanket in his crib :) *

 FINALLY.........NO MORE OF THIS DURING CHURCH!!!

 

Because the long awaited day of hearing those magical words has come......."Your child is now 18 months old and can go to nursery!!"  One of the nursery teachers watches Gage on Tue/Wed/and Fri so he really didn't have trouble warming up and going in. I stayed with him for about five minutes and then left for the first two Sundays. After I would leave he would stay close to Sarah and was a bit cautious of playing if she wasn't near, but he is doing great now. As excited as I was to not be chasing him for two hours, I still shed a few tears after I dropped him off because it means he is growing up faster then I want him to!!

Grandpa sent Gage a new Teddy because the other one got blood on it from when he fell and needed stitches.  We were able to get the old one cleaned and we tried to get him to just pick one of the Teddy's, but he has to have them both now :)

Christmas

We are grateful for the Savior and the gift of the Atonement that he gave to all of us. We had a wonderful Christmas and thanks to Gage, we got to remember the excitement of being a toddler at Christmas time.

Boxes

Cooper

Gage loves all things Cooper, especially telling Cooper, "no no coop" when Cooper jumps up on the couch, barks to loud, or plays with a toy he isn't supposed to.

 Gage also likes to...........

Get Cooper his water

Feed Cooper his food, especially when he gets to go downstairs with daddy to get the food :)

Gage likes things picked up and if he spills, he always picks it up

He likes to take Cooper for walks.........even if that means indoors!

When Cooper is done being "walked," he sits down and refuses to move. Gage will say "moo coop, moo!" Rob or I will step in and save Cooper and take the leash off. Gage decides he isn't done playing with Cooper and he moves on to getting the grocery cart and chases Cooper around the house

The "concentrated tongue" his a trait he got from his mama :)

The First "I love to run" Emergency Room visit

On January 1st 2012, the day after our insurance deductible started over, Gage was running at church and fell onto a radiator cover box and got a pretty decent size gash in the center of his forehead. We took him to the emergency room at Children's Hospital where it was decided he needed to have stitches. We were told that unfortunately the scar would be visible for quite sometime because the gash ran vertical, against the horizontal lines of the forehead. Gage was brave and strong and stopped crying before we even made it to the parking lot from the church building. By the time we got to the emergency room he was ready to play again.

*We don't ever take Teddy with us to church, but that morning I was thinking about the new church time and thought I should bring Teddy in case Gage got tired. I debated back and forth about bringing Teddy and then at the last minute I grabbed him and brought him with us. It was a blessing to have Teddy with us because he immediately calms Gage down and helps comfort him. I think someone was watching out for Gage that day :)*

They gave this medicine to Gage that they call "silly medicine" because the child will act loopy and silly and then get very calm............we loved it! They told us it would take between 30-45 minutes to kick in and that once it had kicked in we were to push the nurse button so the doctor could come and put the stitches in. I asked how we would know that it had kicked in and he said, "oh, you'll see." Sure enough he was right! It was incredible to see the  Gager boy get so calm. The child that has to be moving 24/7 was so chill!! At first it was like he was on an (un-nammed street drug) because anything you said to him he would giggle at. Ten minutes later, you would say something to him and he would just kind of nod his head and smile and look around the room. Ten minutes after that he was relaxing on the bed, completely chill!! I want a bottle to take home :) He was so relaxed he just sat there while they stitched him up, we didn't even have to hold him or anything......shout out to modern medicine!
